DigiTain: Fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures
Dresden, April 12th, 2023 – XPLMXPLM is part of the research project DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability).The aim of the project is thefully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures. As part of the specialist program New Vehicle and System Technologies , the project, which is planned to run for three years, is funded by the European Union and by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection in accordance with a resolution of the German Bundestag.TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH has assumed responsibility for the project.On January 1, 2023, the 26 funded partners from industry and science officially began their research work on processes, methods and models for the fully digital product development and certification of sustainable electric drive architectures.
The role of XPLM in the DigiTain project
XPLM’s focus is on our expertise, namely data management and control of information flows in the product development process. For DigiTain, we build a platform solution from Aras Innovator and XSPHERE for development and implementation
- a sustainability-oriented development process,
- digital methods and tools for developmental sustainability assessment,
- a strategy for building predictive CAE models of vehicle architecture system components.
Benefits for the project participants
In terms of data management and control of information flows, DigiTain is basically a “perfectly normal” interdisciplinary innovation project, i.e., the everyday work of any industrial company. This means that the better the individual engineering disciplines succeed in working together and exchanging data, the more efficiently the project will operate.Using different technologies, we ensure that the respective compatible and valid versions of the product components are linked with each other and that the data required for the simulation of the system components is provided consistently. This creates transparency in interrelationships and dependencies. This, in turn, is essential for correct decisions and the successful start of production.
