OSI’s Security division (Rapiscan® Systems, American Science and Engineering and S2 Global) is a leading supplier of screening solutions that help governments, corporations, law enforcement and military organizations around the world combat terrorism, drug and weapons smuggling, illegal immigration and trade fraud.
Project Overview
OSI Systems aimed to enhance the efficiency of its mechanical development department while ensuring that the implemented solution remained cost-effective and adaptable to future requirements. With limited resources and the need to quickly onboard a new project manager, the focus was on achieving a seamless integration into the existing PLM environment. XPLM supported OSI Systems in developing a customized automation solution for file naming and structured uploads to PLM. This ensured consistent data organization, compliance with company-specific processes, and scalability for future needs — all while maintaining budget efficiency and operational continuity.

Solution
XPLM implemented a customized integration between Oracle Agile A9 and SOLIDWORKS to optimize OSI Systems’ engineering processes. The solution included tailored code modifications to improve CAD file naming sequences and enable the direct upload of FEA analysis files into Agile A9. Additionally, XPLM ensured that the integration would support both current and future business requirements. Comprehensive training sessions empowered OSI engineers to utilize the solution effectively and independently within a short timeframe. Despite project interruptions, XPLM provided ongoing support and refresher training to secure a smooth continuation and successful completion of the implementation.
