Project Overview
WINTERSTEIGER AG, an international leader in specialized mechanical and plant engineering, sought to standardize its diverse engineering system landscape by transitioning to Siemens NX. During the conversion of Creo Parametric assemblies, the company faced significant data quality challenges—many features and symbols were lost in the process. To address this, XPLM supported WINTERSTEIGER in developing a robust migration strategy that ensured the accurate transfer of over 140,000 design files, including PTC Creo Elements/Direct and Creo Parametric data. The result was a unified and reliable CAD/PLM environment that optimized data integrity, improved design collaboration, and laid the foundation for a fully standardized engineering process across the organization.
With the successful system and CAD data migration, the XPLM has made an important contribution to harmonising our heterogeneous system landscape.
Solution
XPLM executed the migration in several phases, starting with a detailed data analysis and pilot migration to ensure quality. Using specialized tools, legacy data were cleansed and transferred from Model Manager to Siemens Teamcenter. Subsequently, CAD data were converted from PTC Creo to Siemens NX and integrated into Teamcenter as NX objects. The B-Rep conversion preserved essential geometry, enabling direct editing in NX and supporting WINTERSTEIGER’s “master model” approach. This resulted in a unified, future-proof engineering environment with standardized data structures and improved design efficiency.
