Project Overview
Kiepe Electric, a specialist in traction systems for electric vehicles and public transport, aimed to modernize its engineering processes by improving the connection between ECAD and PLM environments. The project focused on cleaning and standardizing historical data, automating the transfer and synchronization of BOMs and documents, and ensuring consistency between article data in both systems. This integration significantly reduced manual effort, minimized errors, and established a more efficient and transparent product data management process.
Durch Workshops und die Erfahrung von XPLM mit anderen Kunden konnten viele Schwachstellen in unserem Engineering-Prozess gelöst werden.
Solution
XPLM implemented an integration between PROCAD PRO.FILE and the ECAD systems ELCAD and Engineering Base to automate BOM management and document handling. The solution established a unified database that enables automatic transfer and synchronization of BOMs, articles, and related documents between ECAD and PLM. Through tailored workshops, requirement analysis, and iterative testing, XPLM optimized internal workflows, introduced automated revision control, and eliminated redundant data maintenance. The result is a reliable and efficient connection between design and product data management systems.
Benefits
- Established a unified and reliable data foundation through fully automated BOM integration within the PLM system
- Minimized errors and manual effort by ensuring consistent, traceable data synchronization between ECAD and PLM environments
- Streamlined document management with automated generation and standardized archiving processes across the entire product lifecycle
