Project Overview

Fill, a family-run company specializing in machine and plant engineering, set out to connect its ECAD, PLM, and ERP systems to improve data flow and process reliability. The project focused on defining a unified data model and optimizing workflows between mechanical, electrical, software, and documentation teams. Automated BOM generation and data synchronization were introduced to streamline ordering processes and reduce manual effort.

Assemblies are now being developed in a unified process, all information is available to the engineers in PRO.FILE through the use of integration technology. With our growing technological requirements and rapid development, the integration with PRO.FILE is indespensible. These steps were only possible due to the products of XPLM.

Solution

Together with Fill’s engineering team, XPLM connected the ECAD systems ELCAD and Engineering Base with the PLM solution PRO.FILE using the integration tool Integrate2. The implementation established a consistent data model and automated workflows between ECAD, PLM, and ERP. Engineers now benefit from synchronized article databases, automatic BOM generation, and seamless access to design and manufacturing data across departments.

Benefits

  • Engineers receive real-time updates on all design changes, including cost adjustments
  • Significant reduction in manual effort and processing time through automated workflows
  • Clear, consistent, and traceable processes that improve overall project transparency
